Larimer County: septic rules when you sell
Transfer of Title Program (OWTS Acceptance Document)
If you sell a Larimer County home on a septic system, a NAWT-certified inspector licensed by the county must inspect it and file a report with the health department before closing. If it passes, the county issues an Acceptance Document that is good for 12 months. New systems approved within the last three years and non-arm's-length transfers (family, inheritance, foreclosure) are exempt.

| Exemptions | Not required if the system received final approval less than 3 years ago, or for non-arm's-length transfers (family transfers, estate settlements, foreclosures, adding/removing a joint owner where one party is the original owner or their spouse/parent/child, transfer to a trust/LLC with the original owner). |
